HARRISBURG The Brookings Bombers 13U team dominated Harrisburg in a doubleheader on Friday night.
The Bombers outscored the Tigers 58-4 in the two games, winning game one 28-0 and game two 30-4. Brookings was supposed to play a doubleheader in Aberdeen on Saturday, but it was canceled.
Brookings is now 12-19 and will play in the State Tournament in Brookings this upcoming weekend.
Game 1: Brookings 28, Harrisburg 0 (3 innings)
The Bombers led 30 after the first inning and then scored 12 and 13 runs in the second and third innings, respectively, to win the game in three innings via the 10-run rule.
Elias Wagner scored on an Owen Rounds ground out to make it 1-0 and then John Romsa and Weston Diers each scored on wild pitches to make it 3-0.
Romsa hit a two-run double in the top of the second to make it 5-0 and then scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 6-0. Diers scored on a fielders choice from Bennett Porter and Tegan Jensen, Cullen Torgrude, Cade Jaacks and Rounds were all walked with the bases loaded to make it 11-0. Romsa hit another two-run single and scored on a Diers single. Rounds scored on a wild pitch to make it 15-0.
Jaacks, Wagner and Rounds were all walked with the bases loaded in the top of the third to make it 16-0. Romsa hit a two-run single and then he and Rounds each scored on two different errors to make it 22-0. Diers scored on a wild pitch and Torgrude was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Jaacks, Rounds and Romsa each hit RBI singles and then Diers scored the final run of the game with a bases-loaded walk.
Brookings had 12 hits. Romsa was 5-for-5 with seven RBIs and Rounds was 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Diers was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Jaacks was 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Jensen was 1-for-2 and Jay KC was 1-for-2. Torgrude had an RBI without a hit and Porter had two RBIs without a hit.
Torgrude pitched all three innings and did not give up a hit. He had four strikeouts and one walk.
Game 2: Brookings 30, Harrisburg 4 (3 innings)
The Bombers scored 25 runs in the first two innings and then scored five more in the third to win via the 15-rule again.
Brookings scored 10 runs in the top of the first. Wagner and Rounds scored on an error and then Mason Hegerfeld hit an RBI double. Porter hit an RBI single and then scored on a KC ground out to make it 5-0. Torgrude and Wagner were then walked with the bases loaded and Torgrude, Jaacks and Wagner all scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 10-0.
Romsa and Hegerfeld scored on wild pitches and Porter hit another RBI single to make it 13-0. Porter and KC would score on wild pitches as well and then Rounds hit an RBI single and Romsa hit a two-run double to make it 19-0. Hegerfeld and Jensen were walked with the bases loaded and KC was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Jensen and Porter each scored on an error to make it 25-0.
Harrisburg scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second.
Hegerfeld hit an RBI single and then Porter hit a two-run double to make it 28-1. Hegerfeld scored on a Jensen ground out and KC hit Porter home with a single to make it 30-1.
Harrisburg hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third and then scored another run on a wild pitch to make the final 30-4.
Brookings had 12 hits in the win. Porter was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and Romsa was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. KC was 1-for-2 with three RBIS and Hegerfeld was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Diers was 1-for-2 and Wagner was 1-for-1. Jensen and Jax Sonnenburg each had two RBIs without a hit.
