Jeremy James Deutsch was born on Aug. 26, 1979, to Ron Deutsch and Cheryl (Vig) Deutsch. He grew up in Brookings, South Dakota, where he attended Brookings High School and South Dakota State University.
Jeremy’s greatest pride and joy were his two sons, Koyer Jerrick and River Ron, ages 12 and 9. He was deeply involved in their lives and loved spending time with them fishing, hunting, camping, and coaching baseball. Jeremy served as their head coach for many years and also dedicated countless seasons to coaching young baseball players of all ages. He shared a lifelong love of baseball with many of his closest friends through amateur baseball and his time playing at South Dakota State.
Jeremy also found a second family with the team at Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill, where his caring personality shined through. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, heard, and valued – whether they were friends, coworkers, or patrons stopping in for a conversation. He also proudly became part owner of The 9, alongside two of his closest friends, who became much more than business partners to him and his entire family.
In the past year, Jeremy was preceded in death by two of his favorite people, Dennis Vig and Howard Sigaty. He also joins his beloved grandparents, uncles, cousins, and friends who were taken too soon, including Alan Vig and Justin Magnuson.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Ron and Cheryl; his two sons, Koyer and River; Misti Deutsch, mother of his sons; his sister, Kendra Deutsch; his nephews, Layton and Miles Pitts; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and the entire JD Strong team, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love. A special thanks to all the support from his team especially for the amazing care provided by Wyatt Tosse during his battle.
Cherish every moment and be kinder to each other.
