The Brookings Birding Club will have its monthly meeting on May 13 at 7 p.m. in the Larson Nature Center at Dakota Nature Park.
The speaker will be Jeff Todoroff, a noted birder from Arcata, California, whom some might remember from his brief time in Brookings. His topic will be “(Why I Like) Birding in California.”
The bird in the picture is a California quail, one of the many birds Todoroff will show. This bird is endemic to the West Coast, but many South Dakota birds are also seen in California.
This will be the last BBC meeting until September.
The club’s meetings are free and open to all interested persons.
