Authorities identify Nunda resident who died in one-vehicle crash

MADISON — A Nunda man who April 14 in a single-vehicle crash 3 miles southwest of Madison has been identified by authorities.

Preliminary crash information indicates David James Hanson, the driver of a 2010 Lincoln MKX, was traveling westbound across 451st Avenue from Pelican Point Road when the vehicle left the roadway and went into a grass field, where it collided with a tree stump, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Hanson was not wearing a seat belt, according to information from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
