BROOKINGS — Area residents will get a chance to take part in a discussion about civics and its relationship to news.
The forum is part of a series of free events intended to provide South Dakotans with information about the political process.
South Dakota State University and South Dakota News Watch are among the sponsors for the event, which will be 6 to 7 p.m. April 14 in the Woster Celebration Hall in the SDSU Alumni and Foundation Building at 815 Medary Ave.
Speakers at the event will be Jon Ruff, assistant professor of political science, and Carson Walker, CEO of South Dakota News Watch.
Walker will present a discussion on the role of media in shaping life over the past 250 years. There will be a question and answer session following their presentations.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for light refreshments and civics conversation.
Snacks will be served at the gathering and the League of Women Voters will be present to help people register to vote if they aren’t already.
