BROOKINGS — It’s been chilly, gloomy and miserable these last few days in and around Brookings, what with Old Man Winter bringing rain, freezing rain, sleet and a bit of snow, too.

Hillcrest Aquatic Center beckons, though. It’s empty and forlorn now, but in a few months’ time, those bright-colored slides will be a hive of activity as children and adults alike rush down them on a hot summer day into a pool of cool water at the base of the slides.

So, as you go about your day, always keep on eye on the prize: Summertime at the Hillcrest Aquatic Center!
