It was estimated that a crowd of more than 450 showed up Saturday at Hillcrest Park in Brookings for a No Kings rally, amidst windy conditions, to protest current political issues as diverse as antifa and ICE activity to Iran and alternative energy.

Speakers during the two-hour event included retired South Dakota State University professor Bob Burns and Brookings Mayor Oepke “Ope” Niemeyer. No Kings rallies were held in every state in the union and in other parts of the globe, with media estimating several million people taking part.

  1. Thank you for being there! And thanks for the great pictures – you really captured the mood.

  2. I would suggest in the future not using the word antifa but spelling it out for people who really don’t know what that stands for. Speak clearly anti facism is more accurate. Antifa suggests something that we are not.

This was fantastic. Wonderful participation in the NO KINGS protest. We need to protect our democracy. And… we did it in a way that represents, and puts on display the best of our democracy. God Bless America!

  4. I hope everyone felt all warm and fuzzy inside for expressing their right to free speech.
