BROOKINGS — The city will begin snow-removal operations in the downtown business district at 3 a.m. Sunday, with the downtown parking ban starting at 2 a.m.
City ordinances prohibit parking in the business district between 2 and 5:30 a.m. daily. Violators will be subject to ticketing and towing.
The downtown business district core is from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue and from Sixth Street to the railroad tracks.
Free parking is available in the public parking lots downtown and at the Hillcrest Park parking lot off of Sixth Street.
People also should not park on city emergency routes, which will continue to be cleared during this snow event.

Lastly, they can download the free “myAlerts” app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Select Brookings as a location and toggle on community alerts.
