Leah Benson

Leah Benson, 67, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on Feb. 23, 2026, at Ava’s Hospice House. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the deep care she showed to her family and friends throughout her lifetime.

Leah spent much of her life in Brookings County, where she raised her two children, Rose and Benjamin. They were her greatest pride and joy. She worked for two decades as her own boss, offering housekeeping services for a variety of households and businesses over the years She was a caregiver and homemaker, building lasting friendships everywhere she went. Leah had a special gift for conversation and connection, whether through visits, phone calls, or time together. When her health allowed, she enjoyed gardening and being eco conscious in her free time.

She is survived by her children, Rose Eversgerd and Benjamin Benson; her sister, Andrea Costopoulos; and many friends who became like family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan and Elva Jean Marg.

Leah did not want to have a memorial service; she wanted those who appreciated the way she lived to share time with one another.

In lieu of sending flowers, please share your time, talent or send donations to any local community service opportunity. Leah held a special place in her heart for Habitat for Humanity, Extension, and 4-H if you need ideas.

Leah will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her independent spirit, humor, and love she shared so freely.
