David Lee Billman

David Lee Billman, 95, passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Lawrence) Billman; his sons, Lawrence and Steven Billman; his daughter, Deborah (Billman) Elmore; and Edward Nelson and Keith Lawrence.

He is survived by his son, Charles Billman, and daughter-in-law, Mary Billman; his sisters, Marlee Nelson and Linda Venekamp; seven grandchildren, Christina (Brent) Vigness, Cassandra (Thomas) Horton, Charlie Elmore, Catherine (Courtney) Conely, Albert Billman, Stephanie (Michael) McVay, Sarah Billman; nine great-grandchildren, Brady, Boyd, and Bryce Vigness, Westyn Horton, Mia and Alaska Elmore, Mikey and Lauren McVay, and Calihan Conley; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong family friends.

David proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he flew numerous missions in the Korean War as a bomber pilot. Following his military service, he earned a Master of Science degree from South Dakota State University and completed postgraduate work at the University of Utah. David built a respected career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and went on to build a home for his family on Lake Campbell, South Dakota, where he enjoyed many years surrounded by those he loved. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
