WATERTOWN – The Brookings gymnastics team came in second in their session at the State Qualifier Meet on Saturday.
The Bobcats had a team score of 141.725. Watertown came first in the session with a score of 144.75.
Ava Petterson had the top score in the all around for the Bobcats with a 34.925. Kennedy Ronning was not far behind Petterson with a 34.575 and Nevaeh Strohfus finished with a 33.575. Layla Erickson had a 27.475 and Annika Krogman was right behind her with a 26.4. Liv Halverson had a 17.85 and Kyrie Soukup finished with a 14.725.
Strohfus had the top score in the session in the vault with a 9.2. Halverson scored an 8.85 and Petterson had an 8.75. Masie Mogard only did the vault and she scored an 8.725. Krogman had an 8.525 and Ronning scored an 8.25.
Erickson had the top score in the session on the uneven bars with a 9.25. Ronning scored an 8.75 and Petterson finished with an 8.55. Harper Overby only did the bars and she scored a 7.925. Strohfus had a 7.85 and Soukup had a 7.7.
Krogman came in second in the session on the balance beam with a score of 9.3. Erickson scored an 8.8 and Petterson was not far behind her with a 8.575. Ronning scored an 8.35 and Strohfus had a 7.7. Soukup rounded things out for the ‘Cats with a 7.025.
Erickson had the top score for Brookings in the floor exercise with a 9.425. Ronning scored a 9.225 and Petterson had a 9.05. Halverson was right behind Petterson with a 9.0 and Strohfus scored an 8.825. Krogman finished with an 8.575 on the floor.
Brookings will compete in the State Meet in Mitchell this upcoming weekend. The team competition will be on Friday and the individual competition is on Saturday.
