Richard farmed with his Dad until 1959 when he was called to Army Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and married Delores Pickard on June 16, 1960. They lived on a farm by Sinai one mile west of his parents farm and then moved to the home farm in 1969 where they raised their six children; living there until September 2022 when they moved to Brookings. His honesty and strength was the foundation of their lives.
