BROOKINGS The public is invited to partake in a conversation with our transgender neighbors. The event is Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Brookings Activity Center, 320 Fifth Ave.
Transgender people have become a political issue in the recent years with the ban on transgender service members, ban on healthcare for transgender youth, restrictions on restroom usage and participation in sports. But what do transgender people themselves have to say about this?
The event will include moderated panel discussion with trans South Dakotans and their families, including several from Brookings. One does not need any background knowledge and everyone with curiosity and empathy is encouraged to attend.
The event is co-sponsored by the Transformation Project Advocacy Network, Brookings Pride, Brookings PFLAG, and Brookings County Democrats.
