Have a fang-tastic night! Halloween brings out little monsters in Brookings

BROOKINGS Halloween’s here, and it’s going to be a scare but hopefully a good kind of scare for trick-or-treaters, their parents and the residences they visit this evening.

For a safe and fun time, be sure to factor visibility into the costumes worn by trick-or-treaters, including such things as reflective tape or glow sticks, using lighter colors and having them utilize flashlights.

Also, masks are a no-no; instead, consider using face paint. Be sure the costumes are comfortable and safe as well, and that any accessories are soft and flexible.

Safety beyond the costume is key, too: Stay in groups, use sidewalks, accepting treats only at doors and, above all else, make sure an adult does a thorough check of the childs goodies before its devoured.

In closing, motorists need to pay attention, too. Theres going to be little ghouls, ghosts and goblins all over the place this evening, so go easy on the gas pedal and keep a sharp eye out for the youngsters.
