Flandreau’s Wiese comes in second at state

HURON Flandreaus Faith Wiese finished in second place and the Fliers as a team came in sixth in the Class A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday morning at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.

Flandreau had 124 points to come in sixth. Wiese had a time of 17:41.72. Her sister, Calla, came in 16th (19:29.25). Kiley Westberry finished in 63rd (21:12.36) and Tenley LeBrun came in 76th (21:32.90). Genesis Martinez Soto finished in 101st (22:40.66) and Willow Stephens came in 111th (23:23.06).

Sioux Valley had four runners compete in the State Meet. Amia Ward was the top finisher for the Cossacks as she came in 38th (20:40.15). Talya Vincent came in 41st (20:44.49), Lillie Schmit came in 80th (21:36.16) and Maci Licht came in 81st (21:38.22).

Sioux Falls Christian won the team title with 13 points. The Chargers Ellie Maddox won the individual race with a time of 17:32.60.

Boys

There were five runners from three area schools on the boys side. Flandreaus Logan Kontz came in 36th (17:34.97) and Sioux Valleys Carson Wosje came in 39th (17:36.78). Elkton-Lake Bentons Adam Kinner came in 49th (17:54.04) and Flandreaus Nathaniel Hobbie came in (17:54.14). Sioux Valleys Tyrus Schulz finished in 75th (18:44.96).
