Coral Joanne Ribstein was born on Jan.12, 1937, to Bruce and Evelyn (Sedig) Ribstein on the family farm near Bruce, South Dakota. She attended public school and graduated from Bruce High School in 1953.
On Sept. 6, 1958, Coral married the love of her life, Dwayne B. Olson, in Bruce, South Dakota. The couple was blessed with three children: Teresa, Kim, and Jeff. Coral and Dwayne enjoyed an eighteen-year honeymoon, traveling the world and exploring every corner of the United States due to Dwayne’s various Navy assignments.
In 1976, they moved back to South Dakota to raise their family. Shortly thereafter, Coral became employed by the U.S. Veterans Administration, where she worked until her retirement in 1996. Throughout her life, Coral enjoyed many activities, including bowling, playing softball (where she was a top-notch pitcher), golfing, shopping, and cooking. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three children: daughters Teresa (Allen) Miller and Kim (Daren) Farr, and her son, Jeff (Natalie) Olson, all of Sioux Falls. Coral is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Gordy (Sharon) Ribstein of Arlington, SD; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Ribstein; and many nieces and nephews.
Coral was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dwayne Olson; her father, Bruce; her mother, Evelyn (Sedig); her stepfather, Leo Oseby; and her brother, Neil Ribstein.
