BROOKINGS A 48-year-old woman from Brookings died in a two-vehicle crash several miles north of Brookings on Sunday morning.
In a Monday news release, the South Dakota Department of Safety said the crash, which occurred at the intersection of state Highway 30 and 471st Avenue, left a 53-year-old Arlington man with minor injuries as well.
Preliminary crash information indicates the woman, driving a 2007 Ford Edge, was traveling north on 471st Avenue. At the same time, the man, who was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra, was traveling east on Highway 30. As he approached the intersection with 471st Street, he failed to stop at the stop sign, entering the intersection and colliding with the womans vehicle, according to information from the DPS. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway into the northeast ditch.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
