We need to live our faith

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Hebrews 12:1)

These words remind us that sometimes, things in this world hold us back from fully living into our faith. Yet every moment is a new opportunity to be a part of the cloud of witnesses by setting an example in our faith. Sometimes, this happens in big ways, but often, it happens in the little ways we interact with one another. Moments that provide opportunities to care for one another in the simplest of ways.

In his book, Sabbatical Journey, theologian and writer Henri Nouwen asks: Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someones face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions.

Today and throughout the day(s) and even year(s) to come, I hope you will take time to do these things. To go out of your way to be a blessing to others in large or small ways alike. May you take time to offer peace, share a smile, offer kind words instead of anger or resentment, and to be sure to love and forgive because God already loves and forgives each of us. These small acts are opportunities to spread hope and joy in our world something we could all use a bit more of.
