BROOKINGS Its Friday, and Hobo Week at South Dakota State University is nearing its crescendo with the Hobo Day parade and football, both Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
Before then, though, other Hobo Week whose theme is Chase the Horizon activities have or will be taking place, including these photos from Wednesday nights Rally at the Rails event in downtown Brookings. Crowds filled Fifth Street for music, games, food trucks, entertainment, vendors and more.
According to information from SDSU, students tonight can look forward to:
- 6 p.m.: UPC Hobo Bingo on the University Student Union Market Stage Join UPC for a chance to load up on all the snacks for your Hobo Day with Hobo Bingo.
- 8-11 p.m.: Hobo Night Live on the University Student Union Market Stage Comedy Hypnotist Reed Tate will take the stage at 8 p.m., followed by Comedian Cam Bertrand at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, of course, is the big day.
- The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and will wind south on Medary Avenue, then west on Sixth Street before turning into downtown Brookings.
- The undefeated Jackrabbits will take on Northern Iowa in the football game, set to kick off at 2 p.m. at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
- Jackrabbit volleyball takes on St. Thomas at 7 p.m. at First Bank & Trust Arena.
- Later in the evening, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., the Hobo Night Live Games Night takes place at the Volstorff Ballroom in the University Student Union.
Dont forget to stop by and enjoy a game room with virtual reality, board games, video game contests and two 9-hole Black Light Mini Golf courses, according to publicity material.
