BROOKINGS The Brookings High School Marching Band delivered another impressive performance recently at the Pursuit of Excellence competition in Marshall, Minnesota, securing a second-place finish behind the talented Brandon Valley Marching Band. Among a field of the regions top high school ensembles, BHS stood out with a performance that combined energy, discipline and creativity.
The BHS band wowed with this years field show titled Written In The Stars, which guides audiences through a celestial journey that explores the life cycle of a star. With its mix of musical precision, visual artistry and emotion, the production earned high praise from the judges and audience alike.
This competition marked the first time the band performed its full 2025 field show. Director Isaac McMahon was pleased with the performance.
It was exciting to perform for a full house, especially now that our full show is on the field. For such an early show, Im very proud of the performance that we had, he said.
The event in Marshall, held on the campus of SMSU, consistently draws a large and enthusiastic crowd. The energy was high as bands from across the region took the field throughout the evening, with Brookings High Schools performance emerging as one of the days highlights.
The band was also featured during homecoming week, performing in both the parade and the halftime show at the football game.
