BROOKINGS Homecoming week kicked off with style Monday as Brookings High School crowned its homecoming royalty at coronation.
Hundreds packed Bell Auditorium for the annual event.
The royal court included lord candidates Gavin Anderson, Bergan Tetzlaff, Nana Dwomoh, Eli Hawks and Isaiah Vogt. Candidates for homecoming lady were Katie Marshall, Lauren Bortnem, Amelia Wendell, Brooklyn Burris and Anon Zokou.
The event culminated with Zokou, daughter of Chantel Zokou and Moise Aime Zokou, being crowned as homecoming lady and Bergan Tetzlaff, son of Erin Tetzlaff and Tetzlaff, being named lord of homecoming.
Charlie Bisgard and Chloe Barber, 2024 lord and lady, were on hand to crown this years homecoming royalty.
During the coronation ceremony, Todd Jorgenson, equipment manager at Brookings School District , was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award for his many years of service to the school.
Jorgenson has served in many roles in the the Brookings school system over many years.
The coronation ceremony ended with the annual Burning of the B tradition.
The Bobcat football team will square off against the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on the SDSU campus at 7 p.m. tonight.
Homecoming week activities will be capped off Saturday evening with the annual BHS homecoming semi-formal dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Brookings High School Commons.
