SIOUX FALLS The Brookings soccer teams each faced Sioux Falls Jefferson on Thursday night.
The Bobcat boys played the Cavaliers to a 2-2 draw and the girls lost 2-1. Each team will play Sioux Falls Lincoln on Saturday in Sioux Falls after the matches were postponed on Sept. 16.
Boys
Brookings 2, Sioux Falls Jefferson 2
Each team scored one goal in each half.
The Bobcats took the lead seven minutes into the game as Zachary Mueller scored and was assisted by Connor Shelden. Jefferson would then tie things up later in the half and it was 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Cavaliers scored first in the second half to go up 2-1. Forrest Giard then tied the game with a goal in the 73rd minute. Kyler Soost had the assist.
Brookings had 14 shots and five of them were on goal. The Bobcats had seven corner kicks.
Giard had four shots and three of them were on goal. Mueller had two shots on goal. Griffin Bachman had two shots and Keller Peterson had one shot.
The Bobcats are now 4-5-3 on the season.
Girls
Sioux Falls Jefferson 2, Brookings 1
The Bobcats had a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the Cavaliers struck for two goals in the final 40 minutes.
Grace Romsa gave Brookings the lead under a minute into the game. She was assisted by Aubrey Knutzen.
Jefferson tied the game with 23:42 left and then took the lead with 4:18 to go. That lead held the rest of the way.
Brookings had 10 shots. Romsa and Sophia Schmit each had one shot that was on goal. Shae Lefers and Lexi Erp each had two shots on goal. Aubrey Giard had four shots and one was on goal and Isabel Eide had one shot.
The Bobcats fell to 3-6-3 on the season.
