LAKE PRESTON The Sioux Valley volleyball team won the Lake Preston Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. The Cossacks beat Iroquois/Lake Preston, De Smet and Arlington on the way to the title.
Sioux Valley is now 9-4 and plays at Milbank on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Sioux Valley 2, Iroquois/Lake Preston 1
ILP won the first set 25-16 and then Sioux Valley forced a winner-take-all third set. The Cossacks won that set 25-18.
The Cossacks had 32 kills and 85 digs as a team. Maci Licht had nine kills to lead Sioux Valley. Lacey Langland had five kills and six digs. Liberty Trygstad and Machaela Gerasch each had 12 digs. Gerasch also had 16 assists. Talya Vincent had 17 digs and McKinley Schwab had 11 assists. Caitlin Russell had 13 digs.
Sioux Valley 2, De Smet 1
The Bulldogs won set one 25-18. Sioux Valley kept the match alive with a 26-24 win in set two and won set three 25-17.
The Cossacks were led by Langland who had 10 kills and five digs. Licht had nine kills and Abygale Degan had six kills. Vincent had 16 digs and Russell had 15 digs. Trygstad had nine digs and Schwab had 18 assists. Gerasch had 13 assists and 16 digs.
Sioux Valley 2, Arlington 0
Sioux Valley won each set by scores of 25-14 and 25-21.
Licht and Langland each had seven kills. Trygstad had 14 digs and Vincent had nine digs. Russell had six digs and Gerasch had 12 assists. Schwab had 10 assists.
