Brookings Bobcats revved up for Homecoming week activities

BROOKINGS Brookings Bobcat spirit will shine during Brookings High Schools homecoming week.

Area residents can back the Bobcats at many events during the week.

The coronation will be 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in Bell Auditorium at Brookings High School.

The royal court includes lord candidates Gavin Anderson, Bergan Tetzlaff, Nana Dwomoh, Eli Hawks and Isaiah Vogt. Candidates for homecoming lady are: Katie Marshall, Lauren Bortnem, Amelia Wendell, Brooklyn Burris and Anon Zokou.

After the coronation of the lord and lady, the annual Burning of the B will be outside the high school.

Soccer matches will be the name of the game Sept. 23 with the varsity girls team playing at 4 p.m. and the varsity boys playing at 6 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Complex.

Homecoming on Sept. 25 will also be filled with BHS athletic activities, with a cross country meet at 4 p.m., at Edgebrook Golf Course. The Bobcat volleyball team will also be in action at 7 p.m. at the BHS Auxiliary Gym.

The two big homecoming events will be Sept. 26. The homecoming parade will be at 2 p.m. in downtown Brookings. And the Bobcat football team will square off against the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on the SDSU campus.

Homecoming week activities will be capped off the evening of Sept. 27 with the annual BHS homecoming semi-formal dance from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Brookings High School Commons.

Alyssa Laufmann, BHS English instructor and student council adviser, said that throughout the week, BHS students royalty court, sports/activities representatives, student council members, etc. will be at the K-8 buildings in the school district to participated in Bobcat welcomes and pep rallies.
