GROTON The Sioux Valley boys golf team came in second place at the Groton Invite on Thursday.
The Cossacks finished just one stroke behind tournament host Groton Area after shooting a 348. Sisseton came in third (354) and Aberdeen Roncalli finished in fourth (368). Milbank came in fifth (373) and Redfield rounded out the field, coming in sixth (397).
Trentyn Scmitt led the Cossacks and came in second place after shooting a 76. Blaze Mathern and Landon Hanssen each medeled as well, coming in seventh (86) and 14th (91), respectively. Nate Larson came in 18th (95) and McCade Nelson came in 19th (97). Isaiah Hemmestad finished in 21st (98).
The Cossacks will return to the course on Sept. 16 at the Redfield Invitational Fisher Grove Country Club.
