I lived in Brookings from 1952 to 1984 during which time I enjoyed reading the Brookings Register. Much of that time it was a bi-weekly publication and an important source of local and state news.
I was very sorry when it ceased publication.
Even though I am not a subscriber, I am thankful that a new publisher has stepped forward to provide this essential local news outlet. A community, large or small, without print news soon loses its sense of local history.
