SIOUX FALLS The Brookings and Sioux Valley cross country teams competed in the Augustana Twilight at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls on Friday night.
Each team had a strong showing in a field that included almost 100 combined boys and girls teams and over 900 high school runners.
Each team will head back to Yankton Trail Park this upcoming Saturday for the Heartland Preview.
Girls
Brookings
The Bobcats came in 18th as a team with 582 points. Aubrey Cooley led Brookings and came in 108th with a time of 19:52.44. Maisie Mogard came in 118th (19:58.52) and Isabel Overby finished in 137th (20:14.54). Jordyn Johnson came in 170th (20:42.86) and Kalla Foerster came in 175th (20:45.27).
Sioux Valley
The Cossacks came in 24th as a team with 640 points. Maci Licht was the top finisher for the Cossacks and she came in 97th (19:45.91). Talya Vincent was not far behind Licht as she came in 100th (19:47.42). Amia Ward came in 123rd (20:03), Ava Gatzke came in 209th (21:02.18) and Lillie Schmit came in 244th (21:31.80). Amya Ward finished in 373rd (23:19.17).
Boys
Brookings
Brookings came in 33rd as a team with 871 points. Marco Springman led the way for the Bobcats and he came in 117th place with a time of 16:51.53. Shane Harming came in 145th (17:08.05) and Dylan Haar finished in 151st (17:09.03). Jack Bierman came in 295th (18:06.24) and Weston Baker rounded things out for the Cats, coming in 327th (18:20.36).
Sioux Valley
Sioux Valley finished in 47th as a team with 1,347 points. Carson Wosje was the top finisher for the Cossacks and he came in 112th (16:49.59). Dubhlainn Vermeulen came in 365th (18:39.94) and Levi Axtell finished in 441st (19:20.82). Bret Milton and Jackson Hestermann came in 452nd (19:37.29) and 453rd (19:38.37), respectively.
