CUSTER Two men from Nebraska died in a single-vehicle ATV crash Monday evening 7 miles south of Custer.
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members. The driver, 60, was from Long Pine, Nebraska, while his passenger, 41, was from Ainsworth, Nebraska. Both died at the scene.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2023 Can-Am Maverick Side-by-Side was traveling southbound on Flynn Creek Road.
Failing to negotiate a curve, the vehicle slid sideways on the gravel road, entered the east side ditch and collided with a tree.
Both men were wearing seat belts, but were not using helmets.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
