WHITE A single-vehicle crash involving a four-wheeler on Aug. 31 left a 63-year-old resident of White with a head injury, along with possible internal injuries.
Walt Collier was found lying in the roadway near the four-wheeler, per information from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office. The accident occurred on 479th Avenue and 205th Street, just southeast of White.
Collier was taken to Brookings Health System and later flown to Sioux Falls for additional treatment, Assistant Sheriff David Biteler wrote.
“(The) investigation at the scene determined that the driver was traveling north on 479th Avenue, when he lost control of the four-wheeler and was thrown from the machine, Biteler added.
Collier wasnt wearing a helmet, and the four-wheeler was extensively damaged as well, Biteler wrote, adding that no damage estimate was available.
Responding agencies were the White Fire Department, along with ambulance services from Brookings and White.
Biteler said the sheriffs office is continuing to investigate the incident.
