BROOKINGS The Brookings girls tennis team went 1-3 in a home invitational at the Hillcrest Tennis Courts over the weekend.
The Bobcats beat Aberdeen Roncalli and then fell to Watertown, Yankton and Aberdeen Central. Brookings plays in the triangular with Sioux Falls Jefferson and Sioux Falls Washington in Sioux Falls on Friday.
Brookings 6, Aberdeen Roncalli 3
Brookings won four singles matches and two doubles matches. Anika Hooda won the No. 1 singles match 10-3 over Keira Rivett and Muxi Tian beat Sydney Bohle 10-6 in the No. 2 match. Sanhita Tummala topped Gianna Cihak 10-7 in the No. 3 match and Alison Glover beat Lydia Nora 10-6 in the No. 4 match. Maya Gent fell to Molleigh Hofer 10-6 in the No. 5 match and Brielle Smetana lost to Abby Andersen 10-4 in the No. 6 match.
Hooda and Tuammala beat Rivett and Bohle 10-2 in the No. 1 doubles match and Tian and Smetana topped Andersen and Nora 10-7 in the No. 3 match. In the No. 2 match Glober and Gent lost 10-1 to Cihak and Hofer.
Watertown 8, Brookings 1
Tummala picked up the lone victory for the Bobcats as she beat Kendalyn Swanson 10-6 in the No. 3 singles match. Hooda lost 10-1 to Leyla Meester in the No. 1 match and Tian fell 10-5 to Jade Smith in the No. 2 match. In the No. 4 match Glover lost 10-2 to Grace Pesek and Gent fell 10-0 to Elly Dingsor in the No. 5 match. Smetana was beaten by Jennika Kettwig 10-7 in the No. 6 match.
Hooda and Tummala lost 10-1 to Meester and Smith in the No. 1 doubles match and Glover and Gent fell 10-6 in the No. 2 match. In the final doubles match Tian and Smetana lost 10-3 to Dingsor and Kettwig.
Yankton 7, Brookings 2
Gent was the only winner in singles matches for the Bobcats as she beat Sienna Cuka 10-8 in the No. 5 match. Hooda lost 10-2 to Nora Krajewski in the No. 1 match and Tian fell 10-2 to Sabrina Krajewski in the No. 2 match. Tummala was beaten 10-3 by Karalyn Koerner in the No. 3 match and Glover fell 10-0 to Meagan Scott in the No. 4 match. In the No. 6 match Smetana lost 10-3 to Elise Koller.
Tian and Smetana beat Cuka and Koller 10-5 in the No. 3 doubles match. Hooda and Tummala fell to the Krajewskis 10-1 in the No. 1 match and Glover and Gent were beaten 10-1 by Koerner and Scott in the No. 2 match.
Aberdeen Central 9, Brookings 0
Hooda was beaten 10-2 by Avery Tennant 10-2 in the No. 1 singles match and Tian fell 10-2 to Sarah Knie in the No. 2 match. Tummala lost 10-1 to Chloe Ladner in the No. 3 match and Glover fell to Estelle Riggs 10-1 in the No. 4 match. Gent lost 10-0 to Mady Holman in the No. 5 match and Smetana lost 10-4 to Anneliese Wells in the No. 6 match.
Hooda and Tummala lost 10-2 to Tennant and Ladner in the No. 1 doubles match. Glover and Gent fell 10-2 to Riggs and Knie in the No. 2 match and Tian and Smetana lost 10-2 to Holman and Wells.
