MADISON The Brookings and Sioux Valley cross country teams opened the 2025 season on Thursday at the John Collignon Cross Country Invite in Madison.
The Brookings boys won the meet with 19 points and the Cossacks came in second with 48 points. The Bobcat girls finished in third with 42 points and Sioux Valley came in fourth with 48 points.
Boys
Brookings
Dylan Haar led the Bobcats and he came in second with a time of 17:32.54. Marco Springman finished in fourth (17:51.94) and Shane Harming came in fifth (18:08.47). Jack Bierman came in 15th (19:13.70) and Weston Baker finished in 27th (20:31.10).
Sioux Valley
Carson Wosje was the top finisher for the Cossacks and he came in sixth with a time of 18:12.98. Tyrus Schulz came in 11th (18:49.61) and Dubhlainn Vermeulen finished in 20th (19:53.51). Levi Axtell came in 29th (20:46.19) and Bret Milton rounded things out for Sioux Valley, coming in 39th (21:38.32).
Girls
Brookings
Maisie Morgard and Aubrey Cooley each had top-10 finishes for the Cats, coming in eighth (21:43.80) and ninth (21:55.57), respectively. Kalla Foerster came in 12th (22:18.45) and Jordyn Johnson came in 19th (22:49.89). Isabel Overby was the final finisher for the Bobcats and she came in 24th (23:39.75).
Sioux Valley
Tayla Vincent was the lone top-10 finisher for the Cossacks and she came in seventh (21:36.98). Sioux Valley had three other runners finish in the top 20 as Ava Gatzke came in 16th (22:33.24), Amia Ward came in 17th (22:36.82) and Maci Licht came in 18th (22:47.87).
