BRUCE A Bruce resident was injured on Aug. 13 after he struck a deer while riding his motorcycle north of Brookings.
Daren Stambach, 32, was traveling north on 464th Avenue near 210th Street when the deer entered the road, according to information from the Brookings County Sheriffs Office. He tried to avoid the deer, but could not and came to a rest in the east ditch.
Stambach, who was wearing a helmet, complained of rib and shoulder pain and was taken to Brookings Health System for treatment of his injuries, Assistant Sheriff David Biteler wrote, adding that the crash occurred at 12:55 a.m.
No damage estimate was available for Stambachs 2007 Yamaha motorcycle.
The sheriffs office is continuing to investigate the incident. Other responding agencies were the Volga Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance.
