Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the Trump administrations attacks on our civil and human rights. Its an opportunity to remind Congress and the administration that, in America, real power lies with the people.
The phrase good trouble comes from a quote from civil rights activist Rep. John Lewis, who served in Congress for over 30 years. His words have inspired many to take action following the mistreatment of people of color, immigrants, trans people, and other communities.
Others fear the consequences thatll come from deep cuts to programs that working people rely on, including Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security.
Brookings Area Indivisible invites you to join the nation On July 17, the anniversary of Lewis passing, to demand that Congress protect our rights and to take a stand for human rights and diversity, equity, and inclusion:
- Thats Thursday, July 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- A standing demonstration on 6th Street on the north side of Hillcrest Park.
- Bring your sign, water, and a chair if you like!
- Limited sign-making materials will also be available starting at 4:30 p.m. that day.
