The Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2118 Auxiliary Third Sunday Breakfast Committee recently met to select the eight nonprofit organizations for the coming year.
Interested nonprofit organizations had submitted information that fulfilled the requirements to be selected. Their contributions to the community and purpose for their members are considered when the committee selections are made.
- This year on Aug. 17, the Military Order of the Purple Heart will serve breakfast. The MOPH is a new organization is Brookings.
- On Sept. 21, the Brookings Tae Kwon Do Competition Team, also a newly formed unit, will serve breakfast.
- On Oct. 19, the Kelly McGeough Foundation, active in the Brookings Community for the last 40 plus years, was chosen to help with the Sunday breakfast.
- Brookings Volunteer Service Bank will be on hand to help with the Nov. 16, breakfast.
- On Dec. 21, the VFW Post and Auxiliary will host the Third Sunday Breakfast.
- Starting the 2026 year the Jan. 18, Third Sunday Breakfast will be served by the Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
- On Feb. 15, the Brookings High School Band Boosters will be on hand to help with the breakfast.
- The Midwest Maidens Roller Derby will serve breakfast to community guests on March 15.
- The final Third Sunday Breakfast will be on April 19, and the Brookings Police Department Foundation will be on hand to help serve the community.
Each of the nonprofit organizations are important to our community. Please mark your calendars for the third Sunday of each month to come and support our nonprofit organizations that are part of our Brookings-area community.
