Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the congregation at the United Church of Christ in Brookings has held a quiet demonstration in front of the church on Eighth Street South nearly every Wednesday from 6 to 6:30 p.m. They have recently expanded to voice hope, support and prayers for peace in Gaza and Iran, as well as Ukraine.
There is no formal program, nor are there speakers. Rather, we let our signs and our presence be our statement.
Everyone is welcome to join this demonstration on any Wednesday at 6 p.m. 828 Eighth St. S. here in Brookings.
Hand-made signs are available or bring your own sign and a chair if you like.
If youre just driving by, give a honk and a wave for peace.
This is an opportunity for us to stand up for human rights globally.
