Jury convicts man in Dakota Dunes murder case

Authorities said a Union County jury recently convicted a man of first-degree murder for a stabbing death in Dakota Dunes.

Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales, 41, was found guilty Wednesday, according to South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley.

Prosecutors said Castellanos-Rosales fatally stabbedJordan Beardshear, 23, in June 2023. The victims body was found in a Dakota Dunes apartment.

Castellanos-Rosales was later arrested in Mexico.

This verdict delivers justice to Jordan and her family, said Jackley. This was a brutal and senseless act of violence and the jurys decision affirms that the defendant will be held fully accountable. Thank you to the investigators, prosecutors, and witnesses who ensured that the truth was heard, and justice was served.

When Castellanos-Rosales is sentenced, he faces a minimum sentence of life in prison and the possibility of the death penalty.
