Dwaine S. Minor passed away on June 20, 2025 in Brookings, SD.
A funeral service will be held for Dwaine at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Nunda Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda, SD. A visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday June 27, at Rudes Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.
Dwaine S. Minor was born on Nov. 18, 1930, in Brookings, South Dakota the son of Silas and Clara (Hillestad) Minor. Dwaine received his education in Brookings and was a graduate of the Brookings High School.
He farmed for one year before serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorable discharged from the army in February of 1954. He was then united in marriage to Helen Petersen on Oct. 10, 1954, in Tyler, MN. After their marriage he continued to farm until his retirement in 1992, still working on the farm until 2023. Farming was in his blood.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda, SD, the American Legion in Nunda, and the VFW Post 2118 in Brookings. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, pinochle with his nephews and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Dwaine is survived by his wife Helen of Brookings; one son Bradley Minor and his wife Tarri of Wentworth, SD; two daughters Linda White of Eau Claire, WI, Lisa Friedrich and her husband Cliff of Brookings; seven grandchildren (Clay, Kelly, Carrie, Mike Minor, Nicholas, Audrey and Eric White); 19 great grandchildren with one due in November; and one sister, Mavis Dail of Los Angeles, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Silas and Clara Minor; one sister Lea Klein and her husband Larry; two brothers Lloyd Minor and his wife Lavonne, and Floyd Minor and his wife Donna; son in-law Jeff White; and his father and mother-in-law Ludvig and Dagny Peterson.
In lieu of flowers donations can be given to the Lake County or Brookings County Food Pantry, or the Greenwood Cemetery.
