BROOKINGS The pride flags are on display downtown throughout this week to commemorate the Brookings Pride celebration, which will be at the Pioneer Park Bandshell on June 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The celebration will feature six drag performers, six speakers, 32 vendor booths (both commercial and non-profit), and DJ music. The event is family friendly. There will be yard games for kids.
Brookings drag performer Kassie Kain will perform along with several other South Dakota and Minnesota performers: Pollie Esther, Stolas Heart, Kyra Rose Shaker, Jaded Envy and Dixon I.
The pride celebration is sponsored by Brookings Pride (a local organization) and the Brookings Human Rights Commission.
Brookings Pride will conclude with an 18-plus drag show at Bluestem Bicycles at 8 p.m. that will feature three performers. The show is open to those 18 and over.
