BRANDON The Brookings 12U, 11U and 10U Black teams all competed in the Sunshine Foods Silver Slugger Tournament in Brandon this weekend and all came away with top-two finishes.
The 12U and 11U teams each won the title and the 10U team came in second place.
The 12U team won all four games they played in. Brookings beat Mitchell 9-0 in the first game and then came away with a 18-8 win over 5TR Grey in game two. In game three they beat Hartington (Nebraska) 7-6 and then in the championship Brookings beat Brandon Valley 10-0.
The team members of the 12U team include Beckett Grunewaldt, Branch Otteson, Cayler Reicks, Conner Hanna, Gavin Horn, Griffin Lease, Juke Anderson, Liam Diercks, Louis Yoshida, Max Merley, Tallen Bartels and Ty Koch. Coaches are Tim Lease, Jared Horn and Brady Diercks.
The 11U team won three of the four games they played. Brookings beat Harrisburg 18-3 in game one and then tied Stealth 9-9 in game two. They then beat Hartington (Nebraska) 7-6 and then Brookings topped Sanford Red 14-4 in the championship game.
The 11U team members include Briggs Hanson, Brodie Bahe, Camden Wagner, Cooper Hyde, Dawson Hegerfeld, Grifynn Meendering, Jacob Romsa, Jaxon Fedeler, Joe Romsa, Max Harris and Theo Treml. The coaches are Matt Hanson, Bryan Romsa and Jon Meendering.
The Brookings 10U team won its first three games and then lost in the championship. They beat the C2C Gamers 15-6 in game one and then topped the Blair Grizzlies 16-4 in game two. In game three they beat Canton 7-1 and in the championship they were beaten by Cubs Baseball 16-5.
10U team members include Bennett Honkomp, Callen Fogelson, Cody Olson, Cole Krogman, Hendrix Schmeichel, Hunter Vincent, Jrue Jacobson, Luke Koch, Maddox Chandler, Sutton Jensen and William Poss. Coaches are Willy Olson, Tyler Koch and Jordan Jacobsen.
