Brookings library group will benefit from coffeehouse tips

BROOKINGS The Mission of the Month for June at Mission Coffeehouse at First Lutheran Church is Friends of the Brookings Public Library.

The Friends of the Brookings Public Library is an independent, nonprofit, volunteer organization. It is comprised of people who use their library and take pride in it.

Through membership dues, book sales, donations, and other fundraisers, the organization financially supports the library with programming needs that are outside of the annual budget.

It also dedicates time and talent in a volunteer capacity to support the needs of the library and library staff.

Financially, Friends gives around $15,000 annually to the library.

This helps purchase needed items and supports programming for all ages. Children and youth needs like Launchpads, tween book club, and teen workshop supplies are supplied.

Adult needs like hosting speakers, classes and escape rooms are met.

The Maker Lab is a popular place at the library, so Friends helps with the laser printer, tools, and programming use. This organization makes a big impact on the library and the community.
