BROOKINGS Leah Brink, marketing director of BankStar Financial, recently announced the winners of BankStars 2025 scholarship program.
Congratulations to Joey Fiechtner from Brookings High School on earning a $1,000 scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year, said Brink.
Fiechtner is the daughter of Jordan and Roxanne Fiecthner of Brookings. She has participated in volleyball and basketball, along with numerous volunteer experiences. Joey will attend Saint Paul College to pursue a master esthetician degree after which she plans to attend SDSU to pursue a nursing degree.
BankStar offers a $1,000 scholarship each academic year to graduating seniors of the local high schools served by each of our three branch location communities. We review all complete applications which meet our eligibility criteria including academic qualifications, activities and community service projects, character and goals, and overall presentation.
The Elkton recipient is Andrea Renkly, and the Volga recipient is Savana Guthmiller.
BankStars scholarship program is advertised each spring, the application window is open February and March, and winners are announced in April. The bank is proudly approaching a century of service, with its 100-year anniversary coming in 2026.
