Jon Kahler, Trevin Lounsbury win individual titles at state meet

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings boys track and field team had two individual winners over the weekend at the Class AA State Track & Field Meet at Howard Wood Field.

The Brookings boys came tied for seventh as a team with 46 points. The girls finished in 14th with 21 points.

Boys

Jon Kahler won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.68. Ernest Ting came in fifth in the 800 (1:56.01) and Shane Harming finished in 16th in the same event (1:59.58). Trevin Lounsbury won the 3200 (9:23.41) and came in third in the 1600 (4:15.46). Cole Hockett came in 13th in the 400 meter run with a time of (51.47).

The relay team of Ting, Hockett, Lounsbury and Kahler came in seventh in the 4×400 (3:27.54). Charlie Bisgard, Hockett, Ting and Kahler came in fifth in the sprint medley relay (3:32.04).

Alex Wainman came in 11th in the high jump with a jump of six feet and one inch. Bisgard came in 10th in the long jump (20-07.00).

Girls

Kennedy Ronning came in 12th place in the 200 meter run (26.29). Kaylie Kuehl came in 22nd in the 800 meter run (2:24.76). Kendis Sackreiter finished in seventh place in the discus (114-03) and Logan Smidt came in eighth in the javelin (117-03). Rylee Briggs came in 23rd in the triple jump (31-10.50).
