SIOUX FALLS The Sioux Valley, Flandreau and Elkton-Lake Benton track & field teams all competed in the first day of the Class A State Track & Field Meet on Thursday afternoon at Howard Wood Field.
Boys
Sioux Valley
Brock Christopherson, Carson Wosje, Mitchell Guthmilller and Brady Hiltunen won the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:02.49. The team of Jakob Guthmiller, Mitchell Guthmiller, Wosje and Donovan Rose qualified for the 4×100 relay finals as they came in second in the prelims (43.48). Jakob Guthmiller, Rose, Christopherson and Hiltunen came in eighth in the sprint medley relay (3:40.84).
Rose qualified for the finals of the 110 meter hurdles as he finished in third place in the prelims with a time of 14.99 seconds.
Flandreau
Micah Otto, Paul Parsley, Benjamin Kulm and Brenton Westberry came in 10th in the sprint medley relay. Parsley, Alexavier Poitra, Kulm and Westberry came in 20th in the 4×100 (45.68).
Elkton-Lake Benton
Taiton Boersma finished in third in the shot put (51-11.75). Eliot Erickson came in fifth in the pole vault (12-03.00).
Blake DeVries came in 11th in the 110 meter hurdles prelims (15.93). Tanner Stein came in 12th in the 100 meter dash prelims (11.40).
Girls
Sioux Valley
Emma Gorvin came in fifth in the high jump with a jump of five feet and one inch. Amari Ward came in 20th in the javelin (87-02).
Talya Vincent, Amia Ward, Amya Ward and Maci Licht came in ninth in the 4×800 relay (9:58.65). Amia Ward, Amari Ward, Vincent and Licht came in 11th in the sprint medley relay (4:22.52). Caitlin Russell, Audrey Larsen, Tenley Severson and Kalia King came in 22nd in the 4×100 (54.06).
Flandreau
Ella Hoffman, Morgan Sheppard, Kiley Westberry and Faith Wiese came in second in the sprint medley relay (4:09.15). Morgan Kontz, Rona Streitz, Rhegan Sheppard and Hoffman came in 12th in the 4×100 prelims (52.50). Josie Hamilton, Rhegan Sheppard, Tenley LeBrun and Calla Wiese came in 16th in the 4×800 (10:25.80).
Hoffman came in 16th in the 100 meter dash prelims (13.28).
