Sioux Valley girls win Last Chance Meet, boys come in second

VOLGA The Sioux Valley track & field teams had a successful day at their Last Chance Meet in Volga as the Cossack girls came in first and the boys came in second.

The Sioux Valley girls had 169 points and the boys had 143 points. Great Plains Lutheran came in first on the boys side with 168 points.

This was the final meet before the State Meet in Sioux Falls next weekend. The State Meet at Howard Wood Field begins on May 29 and will conclude on May 31.

Girls

The Cossacks won seven individual events and one relay race.

Adison Renkly led the way with three victories. She came in first 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.12 seconds. Renkly won the long jump with a jump of 17 feet and 0.5 inches and also won the triple jump (36 7.75).

Maci Licht won the 800 meter run (2:18.99). Savan Guthmiller came in first in the discus (108 5) and Amari Ward won the javelin (98 10). Emma Gorvin won the high jump (5 0).

Amia Ward, Amari Ward, Licht and Renkly came in first in the 4×200 relay (1:48.48). Caitlin Russell, Audrey Larsen, Amya Ward and Talya Vincent came in second in the sprint medley relay (4:28.44).

Vincent came in second in the 400 (1:02.53) and Liberty Trygstad came in second in the 1600 (5:51.17). Trygstad also came in fourth in the 800 (2:44.69) and Ava Gatzke came in fifth in the 800 (2:46.80) and fourth in the 1600 (6:00.74). Russell came in fifth in the 100 (13.92).

Porshia VanderWal came in second in the discus (103 0) and fifth in the shot put (29 2). Miley Keating came in second in the triple jump (32 0.75).

Boys

The Sioux Valley had one individual winner on the boys’ side and they won three relay races.

Braden Danzeisen won the triple jump with a jump of 41 feet and 3.5 inches. The team of Jakob Guthmiller, Mitchell Guthmiller, Carson Wosje and Donovan Rose won the 4×100 (45.15) and 4×200 (1:33.77). Jakob Guthmiller, Rose, Mitchell Guthmiller and Brock Christopherson won the sprint medley relay (3:45.05).

Rose came in second in the 110 meter hurdles (14.96) and Hunter Steinhaus came in third in the 200 (24.32). Trey Wyman came in fifth in the 200 (24.58) and Wosje came in fifth in the 400 (52.87). Tyrus Schulz came in fifth in the 1600 (5:10.75) and Wyatt Hardt finished in fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (47.16).

Landon Hanssen came in second in the shot put (42 11) and Wyatt Nelson came in second in the discus (127 3). Hanssen came in fourth in the discus (117 6) and fifth in the javelin (135 11). Danzeisen came in third in both the javelin (139 1) and the long jump (19 6.75). Tyson Norgaard came in third in the triple jump (38 6.25 “) and Sawyer Oines and Brendin Moe came in fourth (35 3.5) and fifth (34 10.75), respectively, in the same event.
