SIOUX FALLS Xavier St. Pierre is the lone Brookings single player remaining in the Boys Tennis State Tournament.
St. Pierre lost his opening match in flight six to Rapid City Stevens Landin Rozenboom 6-4, 6-3. St. Pierre then received a bye in the consolation bracket and then beat Sioux Falls Jeffersons Austin Josephson 10-5. St. Pierre will play Brandon Valleys Titan Gross in the consolation championship on Friday.
Zachary Mueller lost both of his matches on Thursday in flight one. He fell to Yanktons Zachary Briggs 6-0, 6-0 and then lost to Sioux Falls Jeffersons Blake Walter 10-7.
Braylon Peters lost his opening match in flight two. Peters lost 6-3, 6-2 to Mitchells Luke Jerke. He then received a bye in the consolation bracket but then lost to Sioux Falls Washingtons Eli Boyd 10-3 and was eliminated.
Carson Kreie lost his opening match in flight three but then bounced back with a win in the consolation bracket.. He was beaten by Brandon Valleys Gavin Stone 6-2, 6-0 in the opening match and then beat Sioux Falls Roosevelts Ian Schmitt 10-1. However, Kreie then lost to Sioux Falls Jeffersons Charlie Erickson 10-2 and was eliminated.
Brodie McCarty was eliminated in flight four after winning one consolation match. McCarty lost to Watertowns Xane Fligge 6-0, 6-1 and then beat Rapid City Centrals Greysun Weston 10-3. He then lost to Sioux Falls Jeffersons Champ Baumgarten 10-2.
Andrew Hahn played in flight five and was eliminated. He lost to Brandon Valleys Sanders Anshutz in his opening match. Anshutz won the opening set 6-3 and Hahn took the second set 6-2. Anshutz then won the tie breaking set 10-8. Hahn received a bye in the consolation bracket and then lost 10-3 to Sioux Falls Jeffersons Asher Vandewater.
St. Pierre and Hahn were the only Brookings duo to win in doubles action. They lost their first match in flight three to Watertowns Dawson Hartman and Sam Karst 6-3, 6-3 and then beat Sioux Falls Washington Mason Iery and Derek Yauslin 10-1. Theyll play Brandon Valleys Sander Anshutz and Titan Gross tomorrow.
Mueller and McCarty are still alive in flight two after receiving a bye in the consolation bracket. They lost to Aberdeen Centrals Mason Ligon and Dawson Pederson 6-0, 6-0. Theyll play Yanktons Chirstopher Rockne and Luke Moeller tomorrow.
Peters and Kreie were eliminated in flight one. The duo lost to Brandon Valley Eli Woidyla and William Jesnen 6-0, 6-0 in their first match and then fell to Watertowns Skyler Stanton and Joey Meester 10-4 in the consolation bracket.
