Tennis lessons for adults being offered in Brookings

BROOKINGS If youve thought about taking up tennis, but never learned to play when you were a kid, its not too late. The Brookings Tennis club will be offering lessons for adult beginners in June.

Lessons will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Tennis Courts. The cost for the June session, which will consist of eight lessons, is $40.

A short organizational meeting for the class will take place on May 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Courts. Brenna Langland, who has been assistant coach for the Brookings girls tennis team for nine years and the Bobcat boys team for three years, will teach the adult class. Lessons will begin June 1. Payment is due at the first class and checks can be made out to the Brookings Tennis Club.

This is a great opportunity for adults who wish to take up the sport of tennis., Langland said. The goal is to give the adults basic skills so they can begin playing matches. The emphasis will be on having fun.

Brookings Tennis Club President Bill Flynn added that it will be nice to get some adults into the sport.

We are delighted to support the adult beginner class. Hopefully, this will take off and they will have a lot of pleasure playing tennis, Flynn said

If you would like to take the class, but cannot attend at the organizational meeting, email Christie Delfanian at [email protected], text her at 605-651-4183 or just show up for the first lesson on June 1. Information and updates about the beginner class will be posted on the Brookings Tennis Club Facebook page.
