Bobcat track and field teams compete in Huron

HURON The Brookings track and field teams competed in the Wendelgass Relays on Thursday in Huron.

This was the final meet before the state meet in Sioux Falls for Brookings. The state meet at Howard Wood Field will begin May 29 and end May 31.

Boys

The Bobcats had three individual winners on the boys side and won one relay race.

Alex Wainman came in first in both javelin, with a throw of 163 feet and 11 inches, and the high jump, with a jump of six feet and one inch. Jon Kahler won the 800 meter run with a time of one minute and 54.60 seconds and Trevin Lounsbury won the 1600 with a time of 4:18.07.

The team of Ernest Ting, Cole Hockett, Lounsbury and Kahler won the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:23.23.

Ting came in second in the 800 (1:55.97) and Shane Harming finished in fifth in the same event (2:00.88). Hockett came in fourth in the 400 (51.40) and Gus Armenta came in fifth in the 100 meter dash (11.61).

Bergan Tetzlaff finished in fifth in the javelin (153-08). Joseph Peters came in fourth in the triple jump (38-04.00) and Eli Hawks came in fifth in the same event (38-00.25).

Girls

Brookings had one first-place finish in a relay race on the girls side. Kennedy Nemitz, Claire Bisgard, Cadence Dauer and Shae Lefers won the sprint medley relay (5:00.20).

Kenned Ronning came in second in both the 100 (12.79) and the 200 (26.35). Kaylie Kuehl came in third in the 800 (2:26.24) and Ella Miller finished in fifth in the 400 (1:03.62).

Kendis Sackreiter came in second in the shot put (39-04.00) and third in the discus (103-02). Logan Smidt came in third in the javelin (117-11) and Clara Delbridge came in fifth in the shot put (34-06.00).
