Two-vehicle crash near Armour kills Winner woman

ARMOUR One woman died and another was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash 10 miles northeast of Armour on Wednesday afternoon.

The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country, a 65-year-old woman from Winner, was traveling east on State Highway 44. A Peterbilt semi with dump trailer, driven by a 38-year-old Tyndall man, was traveling the same direction ahead of the Chrysler and had slowed down for a right turn. The approaching Chrysler swerved to the right, colliding with the right rear side of the dump trailer.

The driver of the semi was not injured. The driver of the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in the Chrysler, a 29-year-old woman from Sioux Falls, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

All information released so far is only preliminary.
