Cossacks, Fliers compete at Big East Conference Meet

CLARK The Sioux Valley and Flandreau track and field teams competed in the Lake Central Conference Meet on Tuesday.

The Cossack boys came in second place and the girls finished in fifth. Each Flandreau team came in third.

Both teams will compete in the Big East Conference Meet in Flandreau on Thursday.

Boys

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks had two individual winners on the boys side. Carson Wosje won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.60 and Jakob Guthmiller came in first in the high jump with a jump of five feet and 11 inches.

Sioux Valley won two relay races. Wosje, Brock Christopherson, Brady Hiltunen and Mitchell Guthmiller came in first in the 4×400 (3:31.82) and Chrostpherson, Hiltunen, Wosje and Carter Sapp won the 4×800 (9:04.64).

Donovan Rose had two second place finishes. He came in second in the 100 meter dash (10.80) and the 200 (23.09). Wosje came in second in the 400 (51.33) and Hiltunen came in second in the 800 (2:13.30). Hiltunen also came in third in the 400 (51.47) and Christopherson finished in third in the 800 (2:13.40). Mitchell Guthmiller came in fourth in the 400 (52.06) and Tyrus Schulz came in fourth in the 3200 (11:59.36). Wyatt Hardt finished in fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and Ethan Hemmestad came in fifth in the 100 (11.43).

Nelson also came in second in the discus (135 10). Tyson Norgaard came in second in the triple jump (38 6.5) and Mitchell Guthmiller came in fifth in the high jump (5 6). Sawyer Oines came in third in the triple jump (36 2) and fifth in the long jump (18 10.5).

Flandreau

The Flier boys had three individual winners. Brenton Westberry came in first place in the 400 meter run (50.83) and Logan Kontz came in first in the 3200 (11:22.15). Luke Sheppard won the triple jump (39 6.5).

The team of Alexavier Poitra, Elijah Johnson, Jacob Mohr and Benjamin Klum won the sprint medley relay (4:05.06). Paul Parsley, Micah Otto, Klum and Westberry came in second in the 4×4200 (1:35.41). Otto, Jake Hamilton, Tate Hemmer and Klum came in second in the 4×400 (3:45.80).

Nathaniel Hobbie came in third in the 3200 (11:48.59). Hamilton came in third in the pole vault (9 6) and Teague Bergjord came in fifth in the same event (7 6). Micah Otto came in fourth in the high jump (5 8) and Xavier Bien came in fifth in the discus (121 8).

Girls

Flandreau

Faith Wiese won two events for the Fliers. She came in first in the 800 (2:24.47) and the 1600 (5:19.89).

The Fliers also won three relay races. Morgan Kontz, Ella Hoffman, Kiley Westberry and Morgan Sheppard came in first in the 4×200 (1:50.94). Rhegan Sheppard, Rona Stretiz, Faith Wiese and Hoffman came in first in the 4×400 (4:22.14). Morgan Kontz, Tenley LeBrun, Streitz and Rhegan Sheppard won the sprint medley relay (4:50.99).

Morgan Sheppard came in second in both the 100 (12.94) and the 200 (28.28). Hamilton came in second inthe 3200 (13:07.08) and fifth in the 1600 (5:54.21). Ella Hogmann came in fifth in the 100 (13.11) and Westberry came in third in the 300 hurdles (52.66) and fifth in the 200 (28.78). Tenley LeBrun came in fifth in the 3200 (15:03.48).

Sioux Valley

Adison Renkly had a big day again for the Cossacks. She won the 100 hurdles (15.14) and then came in first in the long jump (17 8) and the triple jump (36 9.5)..

Taylya Vincent came in third in both the 800 (2:33.77) and the 1600 (5:41.53). Maci Licht came in third in the 400 (1:03.83) and fourth in the 800 (2:35.19)

Savana Guthmiuller came in second in the discus (114 8) and Porshia VanderWal came in fourth in the same event (100 10). Emma Gorvin came in third in the high jump (4 11) and Amari Ward came in fourth in the javelin (88 8). Miley Keating came in fifth in the triple jump (31 6).
