Bobcats come in eighth at conference tournament

WATERTOWN The Brookings boys tennis came in eighth place in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament on Tuesday.

Braylon Peters was the lone individual winner on Tuesday. In the flight two consolation bracket he took down Watertowns Joey Meester 8-3 before falling to Aberdeen Centrals Mason Ligon 8-3 in the consolation championship.

Zachary Mueller lost to Mitchells Matthew Mauszycki 8-1 in flight one. Brodie McCarty fell to Brandon Valleys Ryley McKeown in flight four. Andrew Hahn lost to Aberdeen Centrals Aric Tennant 8-0 in flight five and Xavier St. Pierre lost to Watertowns Sam Karst 8-4 in flight six.

St. Pierre and Hahn defeated Hurons Ler Hai Moo and Ywa Hae K Moo 8-3 in the consolation bracket of the flight three doubles tournament. They then lost to Aberdeen Centrals Tennant and Mika Dannen. Mueller and McCarty fell to Brandon Valleys Gavin Stone and Ryley McKeown 8-5 in flight two.

Harrisburg came in first place as a team. Yankton came in second and Mitchell finished in third.

The Bobcats will close out the regular season at home on Friday against Sioux Falls Jefferson at 4 p.m.
